how important is the tvs valve on top of thermostat housing? also the 2 hose conn. plug in which sits on right side of the head with efi/vacuum lines connected to....????
As far as the EPA goes very important
basically your vac advance connects to it and without looking at a diagram EGR also.
The car will run but not as well, the idea of the valve is it will open and allow vacumn once the engine gets to a certain temp, if you bypass it you will find you will continually get vacumn so it will run crap when cold.

yeh thanks mate i shouldve also said as i cracked a valve spring in head and have replaced it but it runs like crap.. as if it on 2-3 cylinders... i was wondering if these if not 100% fully sealed would cause this??
the 3 port tvs on top of the t-stat housing switches from ported vac to manifold vac at 104 degrees. I thought it was a safety to increase fan speed to help cooling in the advent of over heating. If one was to by pass it they'd connect the vac advance straight to the the ported vac line I cant under stand how this is an emission control.
the egr is switched from the 2 port red vac switch in the head. (must be there).
yeh seems i got car running very smoothly now... problem was the water temp sensor plug... was a bit dodgey.. wires were broken... i dont know how this couldve made so much of a difference... but ive been muckin round with it for weeks... geesh... well know i know hey.. lol... thanks for inputs tho...![]()
i ran mine for the last 4 yrs broken and had no problems but mostly on gas, all the egr lines are anoying on the efi model. every time a mechanic worked on the car replacing heads they never connected back up right and had to go back through diagrams to sort out. the v6 should be alot better.
