you don't need you to explain it to me, i understand what your saying
i just don't agree, sure if a decomp plate is used and the compression is too low then what your saying will be true, aslong as the decomp plate can handle the application its in and is the right thickness to get the compression ratio that you are after then it shouldn't make any difference if its a decomp plate or a 30 thou thicker head/block
personally i have had no worries with decomp plates, i have one in my torana at the moment and have had no problems with it at all for the 50,000km that the motor has done, i definately know that a $45 shim and $10 head gasket was far cheaper than stripping every piston from the engine and getting them shaved.

VH CDT Turbo 5speed?
Heh guys,
I had a turbo 202 with twin su's in a white lJ Torana back in 1989 running 11.1 sec at 123 mph,
didn't spend a lot of money to do it back then,
ran a lj Torana up north Qld with simular set up using a 830 anular holley and went 9.90 off the throttle'
its pretty easy to do if you know what to do
Mine is by no way a big budget effort doesnt have overheating issues, is a daily driver, has the best fuel economy I have ever got out of a 6 cyl holden has a choice of twin HIF6 SU's or Rochester quaddy (Quaddy is not quite right yet is close but has an anoying dead spot when I change gears) still runs the Borgwarner VK 5speed with no dramas, did have to change to a brass button puck and Hi clamping force pressure plate because the rpm HD one slipped like a bitch but its all good. Got pulled over by the Toodjay cops about a month ago he is looking under my bonnet he goes is this factory or you fit it. I told him its factory of course fitted as a dealer option. He was happy to let me go without a pet canary. If your thinking about it, do it, I have never regretted going down this path. Each to there own but if you are thinking RB conversion why wouldnt you just get a VL and sell the VC to someone that wanted to keep the old aussie 6 in it? meeeh
