i have just recently converted it to a borg warner 5 speed manual and i cant find a tail shaft that will fit because my auto one wont fit into the gear box and the manual one that i got with the gear box doesnt fit onto my universal joint at the diff. Any one have any ideas??
Thanks Simon
if you dont have to change the length of the tailshaft, change the front yoke over or change the rear yoke to what fits on the car. if u cant do this yaself, hop up to ya local mechanic and im sure he can change the yokes over and while ur at it get front and rear uni joints changed as well. one less thing to worry about.
We tryed doing that except the shaft diametre from the short shaft is slightly smaller than the inside of the joint, therefor the shaft can spin in opposite directions which is not ment to happen....
Ok
Is the VK an 84 or 85 model?
what diff are you running in the VK? Salisbury 10-bolt or 78 series Borgwarner?
The shafts are different between diffs the salisbury has alot larger in diameter tailshaft where as the borgwarner is a fair bit thinner.
The Salisbury tailshaft attaches via 2 U-bolts whereas the borgwarner uses 4 bolts on a flange.
