Gday guys, I just fitted a 450 holley and i must have it idling at 2500 or it stalls when I select Drive or Reverse.Even at that RPM it sometimes stalls after a while.Any ideas would be good. Cheers.

hoooolly **** dude!! yes tune it.

A basic start point!!
wind in all your idle mixture screws IN so they bottom out (don't do em up tight), these are the 2 screws on the side of your metering block(s)

then wind them all out 1 full turn.

Reset your speed screw (controls the throttle blades) so that the transfer slot is an equal sided square....if its way to big your idle mixture screw will have no effect....

theres so much more to explain....however, YOUTUBE IS YOUR FRIEND

Got it sorted. Thanks all. Drilled out the primaries to 1mm and secondaries to 1.5 mm and all is now good.Took it around Lakeside on Sunday and it was starving for fuel at 4500rpm.Dont drive it that fast on the street so its ok. Cheers Darryl.

drilling out the jets????:hmmm:

For those of you who don't know it, you can drill your jets out for larger sizes instead of spending big bucks to acquire a vast selection. You can also solder the ends closed and redrill them smaller if you are so inclined. Of course, the millionaires among you will scoff at this, so please ignore. Those of you however like me who have more time than money can read on. :)

After some surfing I've calculated that you can use the following drill bits to come close to the sizes needed, or actually be bang on with many of them. So here goes. Remember that a jet marked 120 is 1.20mm in size, 135 is 1.35mm etc. Perhaps those who know more accurately can correct me if I'm way out on this, but I think I'm close.

im not gonna ignore because this is false information.

holley make it EXPRESSLY clear that the jets should never be drilled as it isnt the hole size that allows carburation, its the shape of the hole. drilling makes the shape defunct thus you wont get accurate metering.

a holley jet assortment kit is $68.80 Jet Assortment kit

and if you are a MASSSSSIVE tightarse, then you can buy individual (paired) jets for $6.30 Standard Jets

sorry kiddo, but i cant let random googlers stumble on that info and ruin their jets.
