I was servicing my car yesterday and thought I'd replace the brake fluid. Unfortunately one of the nipples on the rear drum has been stripped by the knucklehead who did the last brake bleed (ie me!!). Is it just a simple case of unscrewing it with a pair of vice grips and screwing in a new one?
Also, the diff oil plug is stuck firm. Didn't spend much time on it when I couldn't move it with the shifter but access is limited by the panhard rod. Anything else work other than a whack with a hammer to loosen the washer?
Mark.
yeh, just get at the nipple with vicegrips, should be ok with a new one then. diff plug, im not sure, maybe some crc squirted on it or something, just make sure its cleaned off before putting plug back and fresh oil in. otherwise, try and give it a bit of a whack with a screwdriver and hammer (rubber mallet) in the direction of thread to undo it.
Might as well go and buy a new wheel cylinder from repco/super cheap .... I think they are like $10 or $15 and you need a "Single Hex Socket" and breaker bar to remove the diff plug.. this will ensure no rounding problems like the bleed nipple![]()
