just wondering if i bought a fire extinguisher (just a lil 1) where could i put it in my vh to. where would be the best spot 4 it?(preferably up the front some where) maybe on the passenger side of the console. does it matter if the sun gets to it or is it made for temperatures that high(i mean being used in a fire and all). any help would be great!
thanks, tukrbox
gday mate well i have mine under my drivers seat...but yea any where u can get it really quickly is a good idea i spose.

i had a vk ages ago and had mine behind the center console on the hump in the back floor. So all i had to do was reach around and fit like a glove, looked phat too.

In about 1 month I will be fitting one to my VK Look up the CAMS & FIA regulations for you but I would purchase & mount one according to their recommendations, the would have done enough safety etc research to create their regulations.
Mainly you dont want it coming loose in the event of an accident a 4kg extinguisher could do alot of damage to you. Secondly you should be able to access it from the drivers side seat with minimal movement, incase worstcase your trapped in the car and it catches on fire.
3 mounting positions I have seen are transmission tunnel behind the seats, passengers side of the transmission tunnel & on the floor infront of the drivers seat.
cheers

The car club I'm in require at least a 0.9kg fire extinguisher for certain motorsports events. However make sure you buy one with a metal mounting bracket. The metal bracket also includes the clamp holding the fire extinguisher. Even some of the supermarket fire extinguishers now come with a metal mounting bracket and have a CAMS approval. Check that it has a date stamp and it is "in date". Check that the pressure gauge is not damaged and the pressure reading is okay.
Technically you need to be able to reach the fire extinguisher from your driver's seat. Most of the guys in the club (WRX) mount them at the base of the passenger seat using a piece of aluminium bar bolt to the front mounting bolts for the seat. While it is a stretch to reach it, it is better than having it come loose and slide under your feet while driving.
