    Default Building tough trimatic

    Hey guys im getting a 308 for my sle its got about 320-340hp. had alot done to it. but ive just got the stock trimatic in it. im going to rebuild the trans before the motor goes in but i want to know what good parts i should build it with so its tough and not going to break with the new motor. im going to a trans place i was reccomened by a mate and talk to them about it but i just want you guys feedback to.

    you need to get one fitted out with extra clutchpacks (total 6) in top because thats a weakness in V8 trimatics, chrome moly servo piston, Full manual valve body. I used George at TransTec Automatics (Byron Place?) in the city, just off Grote Street, he did my 6 cyl one, Prety sure he uses Soderstrom PTC parts which will be what you want. you wont be disappointed, it'll easily handle that much power when modified and have no problems chirping the tyres into second and maybe even into top if he bumps the oil pressure up enough. good luck

    They are easy to find, but not very cruise friendly. Only really suited to a strip weapon.

    i can get a 2 speed but im going to be cruising it alot and i want to try the trimatic out. ive been told they can be quite tough when built properly. thenks for the advice cane it. ill go there during the week its near my work. ive been told to go to a place on marion road near the express way. ive seen some tough looking cars parked out the front to.
