VH 2 Door Commodore - ADAYER SPORTIF

Hi people...

I've had my fair share of car projects throughout the years but recently restoration temptation struck again when I came across a rare car...

I sited a vehicle wrapped up in a blue weather proof tarp in a back yard of a business in the northern part of Melbourne - the shape of this wrapped up vehicle looked to be 80ties commodore...

Asking a few questions "like you do" the owner tells me its a 2 door VH black commodore - "WTF" I checked it out, took a few pictures and kept it under my hat only telling a few friends.

When i got home i researched this 2 door commodore to find out its a ADAYER SPORTIF... super rare and a bit ugly, well fairly ugly but i like the rare part...

One year later and loads of BS with the few i told one friend said lets have a crack at it... So we bought it and now we're thinking what we are going to do ?

My question is do we restore it back to;

The ugly duckling "ADAYER SPORTIF"

OR

VH it by changing the bonnet, front guards, grille, lights and indicators (possibly HDT or SS)

I would like to hear what you people think would be good for this project... look forward to your feedback

Does it use a VH shell with Rekord doors or is it a Rekord shell with Commodore bits?

Apparently there were 11 of them made, this one from the ACT was for sale on Australian Muscle Cars a short while ago...

And yes, based on the Opel Rekord E1...

Adding a bit more,

This Adayer VH commodore start it's short life as a black SL

The story goes this "DIA MOTOR CO" bought the last 11 VH commodore's of the production line from GMH, they were ordered with no soft interior's - only dash...

DIA MOTOR CO fitted/modified B pillars, side panels, larger doors and fitted body work and interior's, most of which from the opel with some SS stuff and optional interior depending on how much $$$ YOU WANTED TO SPEND...

GMH Australia supported the vision of the small private DIA company and the 2 company's work together to engineer and form the concept show car, from the DIA workshop.

All 11 vehicle were all pre ordered from the concept vehicle being showed at the Sydney Motor Show in 1982/83 ?

DIA MOTOR CO went bust not to long after...

This vehicle vin/id plate / date stamp says "NOV 83" and happens to be tagg # 001, yes its the first pre-ordered bought one after the proto type..

This one is a well optioned up ADAYER SPORTIF and has;

Deep Red leather recardo seats and door cards
Momo steering wheel
HP v8 253
Auto Matic trans
Irschmer mags
wood grain arm support on doors

She's a real 80ties Aussie muscle car glamour apart from the front head lights
