hey
i was driving my VH on sunday when it wasl like 45 degrees. i had the aircon on. my temp guage was about 7/8th of the way to red.... thats too hot yeah?
i also found my car cutting out....jumping forwards.....and having no balls at all.. with foot hte the ground, it was not picking up any speed, but vac-manifild pressure was at 5.....
could this have also been a fuel pump problem?
thanks
I remember the odd occurrence many years ago with my VC getting towards dangerous temperatures on extremely hot days (i.e. 35 degrees plus) with the aircon on full blast so I'm not surprised the VH wasn't happy. The old aircon units suck a lot of juice, you compensate for it by pushing the engine harder = increased temperatures. Whenever I'd get near two-thirds on the temp gauge I'd turn the aircon off to make sure I didn't overheat the engine.
But that's beside the point. Can I ask what the vacuum reading was at idle? Also, how old's the fuel filter?
Mark.
well, no fuel filter installed. and at idle its on 40 on the vac gauge.
Idle is ok, but there must be a reason for no fuel filter?
I had similar symptoms to you once. Kept bunny-hopping and had no balls. I was low on fuel, and a bunch of crap from the tank got sucked into the fuel filter. Filter got clogged but some of it still managed to get past the filter and the car stalled horribly. When I finally restarted the car, the cough and cloud of crap that went back out the exhaust was amazing!!
Were you low on fuel by any chance?
I see your car has a turbo, what carb is it running?
Hi fellow's I own a 1982 VH SL/E 202 auto,could you tell me where the fuel filter is?,thank's
The feul filter is on the left side where your dizzy and spark plug leads are its usually a clear little plastic cylinder. Sometimes it might be a metal one and it sitys in the fuel line
ah, the car has no filter because the one on there was too restrictive. i am running a 350 holley. any recomendations on what filter to use? and fuel level was 3/4 on BP Ulimate. thanks
1.the fuel will vaporise b4 the engine can consume it when too hotOriginally Posted by bigg_vin
2.aircon condensor generates heat(45 temp +25 condensor=very hot
Research has shown that men usually sleep on the right side of the bed.
Even in our sleep we happen to be right.
