what are the (if any) differences b/w a bare black and blue block???
there are a lot of differences run a search and find articles but mostly its between the cylinder heads and water jackets not lining up (i think) if its a vk get another black motor so you dont have any dramas
Blue black heads are interchangable.
only the red had different water jacket ports.
Some minor casting differences for the air pump mounts that i've seen. thats about it.
On the 6 cyl Black engines the oil flow was changed in the timing gear area & also the timing cover has a different casting to allow for the new oil redirection.
If i remember correctly this change only happened with the EFI engines only & not the EST, don't quote me on that but a fact is that there was a change in the oil flow in the timing gear area & a different timing cover casting.
That oil flow change is true for both carby and efi motors but is only in the timing cover, there isn't any difference in the block.
The timing gear oiler is still the same, but the cover has a shield around the cam gear to carry the oil around an onto boht cam and crank gear.
ok, then and ive just found a virign bore black block so i don't need to worry bout the diff any more thanx anyway
Uhm, my VK has a 202 Black in it, i blew the Nylon timing gear and broke trhe cover trying to replace it. It nows has one from a 202 Red on it. and it fits perfectly?!?!
