i no this has been asked b4 but just wondering if there is an easy way 2go about puttin a cd player in, or is it always a ball breaker 2 get the old tape deck out
its not too hard a job to take the deck out, the only problem is there isnt much space back there to fit a new deck in. a bit of messing around with wires and whatnot!
lucky you it was bloody terrible for me to get the tape deck out. Then i had to get the file out and make the hole bigger, bad memories.
Yeah the old one's a bit of a mongrel, I've done three now so I got it pretty down pat. If only we could secure newer ones in so well! Noone would ever steal the bastards.
It's also recommended that you cut the surrounding plastic when fitting a new one so it sits flat - you may have noticed a lot of VK/VLs have a lot of metal visible on the lower part at the front of the headunit... you can cut it so it sits flush. I think I have a pic somewhere actually...

Yeah, I spent a while filing...and I don't think the one I got in there now is going to come out too easy actually...Also synptica, may I ask what the attachment actually is?? May sound stupid, but I got no clue what that bit of plastic is lol.
well im lucky i bought my vk calais and it has nothin in it
i am looking for a alpine or pioneer head deck to go in its place
hmmm, i just did the next thing i took out the whole old dash completley and put in the one already modified for my cd player (cage, etc)![]()
in another thread there is a diagram about removing thedash and found that was the best was to change to a cd deck and provent thief of your new audio gear.
