vh broken distributer

1982 vh with a blue 202. the car wont start at all i opened up the distributer and it gets stuck i moved it from that point and it will spin but it gets stuck again in the same spot as before. there is a spark though what is wrong and how can i fix it? please help soon urgent (ment to get my headunit installed tomorrow but now i can't drive it there)

Sounds to me the gear on the end of the dizzy has broken or stripped the teeth off. What you need to do is replace the gear on the dizzy. This what happen in my VH one night. Lucky i had a spare one.

People say a alloy one off a old oil pump but cant confirm this. Anyone else?

yep same gear, the early model dizzy had a cast iron gear standard

anyone know how much a gear would cost dam this sucks wont get my head unit installed defiantly wont fix it by 1pm tomorrow =(

Okbest and cheapest way out for you is get an old 202 oil pump and get the metal gear off the oil pump. It will fit straight on the dizzy shaft and is an exact match to the plastc gear that you stripped.
