Yeh, I put 6" speakers in my front doors, and i did the Legal way, which means i didnt cut any metal so it sticks out a bit. I just got 6" door pods from autobarn (should have shopped around coz they arent great lookin) and speakers still stuck out a bit, so i got sum mdf and, made spacers out the mdf to make it fit properly, i could take some pictures

My old VH SL/X and my new VB base model both have speaker holes in the doors, in pretty much the same place.. could I assume the factory ever did this or was door speakers never an option for the VB -> VL? If it was a factory thing there shouldn't be anything illegal about it?

Apparently it's also illegal to cut into the parcel shelf metal to fit bigger speakers in?

Yeah it is - but you'd be pretty hard-pressed to find a cop to defect you on it, or a mechanic that will fail an RWC on it.

I just got myself VS door pods and the only way I can see them fitting is by cutting into the door (only a small whole) as the backing sits further than the speaker box. Its even like this in the VS.

Can it be done without cutting into the door?

the best way to put 6.5's or any speakers for that matter is to buy a vn dash and put in ur vk and make really sleek fits for it lol, (lol im being an ass cause thats a lot of money and work)

    wouldn't a vr-vs dash look better lol
my mate has 6X9's in his VK and VL and in his vk he has 6" speakers
so they don't defect you for it and you can still get rego for it
anyway just take it to the pits and get the all clear then do ya mods after you get ya rego then they just send you the rego sticker
    no probs
