sterring wheel troubles

i just bought a 308 stroker and it hammers. when i give it some the steering wheel and boss kit come out towards me. i can still steer. it feels like the steering shaft is moving. it only moves about an inch or so. can any one who has had this problem tell me what they did to fix this.

Take Steering wheel of and it should be the main nut that bolts the boss. Happens from gradual vibration and nut becomes loose. Happened to me a few years ago... hope this helps

yer mate, other than checking the main nut and the locking nut, also check that the circlip is still there !!! Easiest way to tell is remove the nuts and the steering wheel, If you can move the shaft in and out by hand then that is one cause of that problem also... Cheers

Also cheek u main clamp on your streeing rack as that might of come lose as well couse they are a tapped bolt it might be threaded
