carbon buildup

i recently replaiced my rocker cover gasget, when i did so i found i had allot of black corbon buildup, i have been told to use a engine flush but wondering if this is going to be any good for my engine or if there is a better way of cleaning the carbon out. I have also been quoted $160 for an injector clean and am wondering if this is a rip off, also if injector cleaning is even the best bet!

i dont know how to clean the carbon build up but there must be a reason its there in the first place, mayve somethign front with your valves, take the injectors out, put them in a bucket of metho and run them off a 9v battery
