help with VH wagon, putting on gutter stainless trim

hi guys, after having one of the roof gutter strips off for over 8 months, i finally found NOS gutter clips,

my question is what is the best way to put them on, do i put the clips on the gutter first or in the stainless steal trim first, i dont want to brake them, to hard and expensive to get

i have previously bought two sets of wagon gutters to try to reuse the old clips but they keep braking, i do know want to destroy the new ones

Personally, I put the clips on first, them the trim when I repainted my VC
