i dunno about ripping out the petrol system, but i have a duel fuel vh, and it's tuned for gas, i only run it on gas. the only time i don't is when i drive on long trips, ie to the coast. i would doubt that the cost would justify ripping the system out.

    just my opinion anyway.

I agree, leave it there and get it tuned just for gas. It won't like petrol at all afterwards but you'll have more power than on petrol if it's tuned properly.
A gas only setup costs a lot more to install than a dual fuel setup initially but you get the true benefits of gas at 130 octane instead of the compromise with a dual setup.
Tuned for gas only also reduces fuel consumption to petrol like figures.

I recently installed LPG to my VK 3.3 that ran like a bag of shit on petrol regardless of tuning, largely as a result of the Varijet carb having what seems to be an accross the board flat spot.

This rave about the diferences in gas vs. petrol tuning always amuses me & it may depend on what brand of LPG under bonnet goodies were installed but, very little changes are made to the original carb settings to run the LPG. The air/fuel mixtures for petrol are for just that, the petrol adjustment. They have no effect on the amount of gas that enters the carb as this is adjusted from the converter.

Any who, for all it's worth. My old bucket runs better on LPG than it ever did on petrol. I'd suggest looking into Airod LPG convertor from M.E.D in Sydney (www.airod.com.au) and install Flashlube upper cylinder head lube which is a better option as a fuel aditive for leaded motors as well.
