    Default Borg wanner 5sp namual

I have today been chasing parts i need for the 253 for when its ready to be put into my VH, one of the parts i have been chaseing is a V8 bell houseing, now one werckers i rang said that the borg wanner 5sp manual will not go on a 253 and if it did i would be looking at about $500 to $800 for one. Another werckers said that I should be able to use the one from the 202, another werckers said he has one there and it will coast me about $65 for it .

Now before i go a speend my money, can someone tell me who is right and who is wrong, as I am confused big time, any help would be appriciated

dont use the 202 borg warner 5spd (M76) on your 253, you will shred it in seconds, it barely handles the torque from a 202

Absoloutley under no circumstances should you put that box behind your 253.

Then again, a wise man once said "The 253 - all the power of a 202, with the economy of a 308!"

T5's were only ever fitted to Group A's... no 202 left the factory with a T5 (though I'm sure HDT could fit one to order...)

There's no way you're picking up a T5 for $65 dude... especially if it came off a 202. It's am M76 for sure.

i think that you can just buy an adapter plate that sits between the bellhousing and the T5..... thats if you had a maunal box originally with the 253..... i think..... so im guessing that it couldnt cost too much for the adapter plate.... but you may need to get a custom tail shaft..... hope this remotely helps....

My guess is if the box is a T5 it is from a VN 5ltr or later. All 253s use the trimatic bolt pattern. All VN 5ltrs and later use the turbo pattern, so I would guess its not going to fit. CRS or Dellow would probably make an adaptor bell housing though(possibly this is what the $65 bellhousing is). The earlier 202 5 speed wont fit, the bellhousing wont fit over the flywheel and the starter is mounted totally different. Is the box made out of Steel of aluminium. If its Aluminium it may well be an oval case Supra box with adaptor bellhousing. these are a good box. If its a CRS housing it will bolt up to both turbo and trimatic patterns.
