Just chucked some extractors on my 173. I took all the pollution crap off and havent worried bout putting it back on. Now when I start it, it wont idle. Even if I put my foot down so it goes up to say 2k it wont sit in the same spot until about 3k and over. If i put my foot down and keep it down so it revs at 2k, the motor will get up to 2k then start dying again....but at about 3k it seems to be ok.
I'm guessing its a vacuum problem so I'm wondering if anyone has a diagram of the varajet II carby which show where the hoses should go to.
I have gregory's manual for it but that doesn't show stuff all about where the hoses go.
Cheers,
Danny

If by any chance you need to refer to any diagrams for emission hose routing for the 173 engine, here is some diagrams for you. These are from the VH Holden factory manual. Note that there is a slight difference between auto and manual emission diagrams.
what was the problem?
ECOTEC KICKED IN yO!!!!!!
was just vacuum leakes, but the worst one which kept making it stall was a hose not connected on the intake. There was a black screw in thing which about 3 hoses would connect to....it had broken when we were pulling it off so i just screwed a bolt in there which has temp fixed it.![]()
