    Default Weird VK

    my friends vk has been doin weird things of late.
    Its:
    Bitch to start
    stalls when breakin
    and turning
    elecs are farked, too much power comin through, h/u over heats and light blow continously.
    its a 202 black with 380 holly carb

    First of all sounds like you have an alternator problem possibly with a faulty reg in your alternator.

    Second thing, you could have a vacuum leak somewhere, check your brake booster, any vacuum hoses that are still connected, else there could be a problem with the carb.

    Mate I can tell u that I had the same problem last month on my Vk Brock. It will be the regulator on your Alternator. I had my auto elect. test it was pumping out around 21 volts. It blew the front headlights and simular things like yours. If it's an Hitachi alternator, you will have to replace it. They for around 50 bucks at the wreckers.. But if its a Bosch, you can pick up a new regulator at bursons for about $20..

    Hitachi? I thought only VL's had hitachi? I was under the impression VK's only had Lucas/Bosch?? Also I got told my alt was at fault, even thou I felt it wasnt. After replacing Lucas one with a Bosch still had same problem. The lucas I removed was stamped dec2003 so wasnt even very old! Turned out to be the wiring from the dash... wasnt tellin alt to power up? Im usualy one to say alternator straight up.... But after what I went thru.... *sigh*

    Holden used Hitachi on VK's for only half of the productions and then went to Bosch, from what I've been told.. My volts guage used to sit at 12-14 but when I accelorated it would jump to 18-21 volts and that's when the lights blew etc..
