    Default Oil type help

    Hi,

Just wondering if a 25/60 oil is lighter or heavier than a 20/50 type oil. I don't know much about oil. All I know is that most people use 20/50. I have noisy lifters and maybe a slightly worn cam which is causing tick and my rockers are a bit rattly. I need to use a bit thicker oil.

    Thanks!

Oh and please tell me what you think of my ride. Click below.

its heavier, i woodnt run something to thick, itll cause more problems then its worth, takes ages to warm up, and works harder using more fuel etc

    Thanks.

Yeah there is a lot thicker oil out there and this sounds like it might be a good start.

    HI
If you want a good oil for that purpose use Penrite HPR 40 its a 25w-70 oil.

Also use a Genuine filter it solded alot of oil pressure related issues on my 202 when I had it.

    cheers
    Scott

Before my oil change I had Mobil 20/50. The other day I put in Penrite HPR 30 and I think my lifter noise has got louder. :b:

I will see about getting some HPR 40 at next oil change.

    Thanks Scott.

I use HPR15 - though I'm using a Pennzoil semi-synth 15w50 at the moment. I'm thinking of switching to a Valvoline semi-synth 15w50 after seeing the results produced in this months Street Commodores (oooh I said the S word!) magazine. It's brilliant value for money.
