    Default VH Opel/Commodore Coupe

    Hi there,
Does anyone have any info on the Opel/Commodore coupe that Brocky did back in 1984 ( I think ). Basically looks like a 2 door VH. Not sure how many were made or imported but there's one in Brisbane for sale and need some info before going for a look. Any idea's what they'd be worth. Car is apparently in excellent condition.
    Cheers

    Default VH Opel/ Commodore coupe

Thanks for the leads, but the monza isn't the car I've seen. It's basically a VH Commodore with 2 doors. Has a split front headlight instead of the usual big ones. Is black in colour. Have seen the car around over the last couple of years and always remembered it. Now my wife's friend owns it and want's info but no-one knows anything about it. Could be a custom job but I heard rumours that it was one of only a few that HDT built from Opel's. Not a hatchback. Seem to remember years ago that Street Machine mag did a story on one but don't have mag. Will keep searching.

there is another two-door commy out there

The 11 original (plus 1 prototype) Adayer sportif cars started life as VH SL/E 4.2 litre V8 commodores.
Then Dominion and International Automobiles(DIA) tore them apart ,cut and shut, threw away the four doors and quarter panels and rewelded and altered the body shells to accept panels from the two door German GM Opel Rekords.

Additions to this car: Deep pile carpet, front recaro seats, choice of leather or fabric, matched material to door trims and side panels, polished woodgrain to trims side panels and lower dash, grey felt to line roof and windsreen pillars, momo steering wheel with dia centre, black cars with gold pin stripe, front spoiler, steel reinforced fibreglass front and rear bars, colour keyed slatted grills, rear deck spoiler, louver, roh wheels 6 by 14, goodyear cr70h14 tyres, Adayer embossed panel between tail lights, dual halogen head lights, power steer, duel exhaust, Pioneer sterio, four wheel disc brakes, tinted glass, air con. Price was $27300 manual and $28200 automatic.

Mate, i'm looking at the article as we speak all about the brock monza coupe. all the ones in the photo's are mock ups by the pictures i have. as soon as i can work out how to scan i can post some pics or if you give me your e-mail address i can e-mail them to you. i've got over a dozen different photo's in cluding engine bay, front, back, sides inside, dash, boot and many more. if you can send me a photo i can tell you if the same one that's in my book. the one in my book shows it has NSW rego as well and gives the two guy's names that own the original 1 off brock coupe. my e-mail address is zena.zed@optusnet.com.au

That exact one there use to belong to a member of COCC [www.cocc.co.nr] I think....his name was Jamie or sumfin and in the end his cheating g/f ended up with it....he made a site and wrote the story of how his g/f cheated on him with his brother.....was a good read, lol. the site also had pics of his 2door vh (the exact one above) and also had links to other sites with info bout them.

I've driven one just like that one above. It was traded in to a business friend of mine on a newer car. This was about 6 years ago in Melbourne. It was a shitbox with a 253 in it. I had a VH SLE 308 at the time so you can take my word for it. I would suggest that you don't touch it with a stick. He's probably still trying to sell it to this day.

PSK... There is nothing wrong with the cars... I think your expectations were too high. Yeah the 253 isn't good enough for the 2door and they ride heavy (especially with a stock auto.... yuck!!!) But I can guarantee the car pic posted by EGG is VERY NICE to drive. (hell I used to drive it everywhere!!!)

Hey dkerr and EGG... I'm Jamie. The guy who's ex did the dirty... The 2door was her car right from the start. She paid cash for it but I was the one who did the deal at the car yard. (knocked $2500 off the price of $10000). She STILL hasn't got her licence. The car is now in their shed cause the engine is U/S and my brother snapped one of the sides of the rear spoiler off. What else do ya wanna know...

SCUMMY... the black coupe you show in your post is a MONZA... nothing to do with the VH 2door. Only 11 2doors were made over in Sydney and Melbourne if I remember correctly (the ex's is 00010). Funny enough... my ex wife's (not the ex g/f) new partner is the one who painted the cars when they were made... Also.. Brocky had nothing to do with them either. I emailed them and asked...

Default Here's some info for ya...

Price was $27300 manual and $28200 automatic.

Warranty for them was honoured by both GMH and the DIA Motor Company.
They had full ADR certification. GMH dealer Village Motors of Redcliffe,Brisbane was the first to market the Adayer Sportif.

After the new batch of 11 was made (the last 11 VH 4.2 cars from the Holden production line )and only ever 11 new ones where made, the DIA Motor Company then went to the public to modify there own VH Commodores to the Sportif specs. They also accepted the VC Commodore but could not issue a compliance plate for the VC, Kits could also be supplied to do your own conversion, cost for DIA to do your own VH was between $7000 and up to $9500, you could pick and choose to have options on or of your own car.

(this info came from http://oldholden.com/?q=node/17505 in case you were interested.. there is nothing more about it there...)

The spoiler was broken accidentally. You know how it happened Supaputty.
The engine is NOT U/S, it only has a bad oil leak from the timing cover, and you know what the carby was like, apart from that it runs fine. And i thought the 253 works fine in the car, its got plenty of grunt and left a Monaro CV8 (only a CV8) for dead going uphill from a standing start at the lights. Mind you, i got no idea what would happen if you went up against a CV8 on a 1/4 mile. Reckon the Commy would get shit on badly, wicked on take-off and up to about 70 then it would get beaten above that.
