    Default Springs and Shocks

    Hey all

after taking my beast to the shop to get looked over one of the items was that all the springs need replacing....

was just yakkin to a mate who reckons i wouldn't be able to get a RWC with the car lowered at all, as i was just gonna buy some lowered kings...

is he right? does the car have to be stock height to get a RWC?

    thanks

The car just has to have a minimum 100mm (maybe 110?) ground clearance with the new springs to be able to pass rego.

My first inspection failed because it had lowered springs on the back without lowered shocks. So what would happen is if the car got enough height, the springs would fall out. I went and bought a set of lowered shocks and now the springs can't fall out without taking off the shocks. Why the previous owner left the stock shocks in with lowered springs I don't know.

Usually normal lowered shocks are 30mm lower (1 and a bit inches), Super Low are 50 - 60mm (2 and a bit inches), not sure on Ultra Lows.

When enquiring about getting proper shocks for my car, the standard are 2 inches longer than the lowered ones which are on the Monroe site. So I ended up getting the lowered Monroe shocks.

What shock brand are you talking about? Must be something completely custom.

what did you do for the front zoist? As monroe don't sell a shortened shocker for the front.

The front was fine and lowered as normal. The roadworthy tester only noticed the rear because when he put the car up on the hoist, he noticed that the springs were falling out, that's why I needed to put proper lowered shocks in the rear. They only cost me $90 a pair on special for the GT gas at Autobarn.

thats because a coke can is more than 100mm, and 100 is the legal clearance you have to have.

zoist, with the shockers, i had the same problem with my front and lowered springs, and had to get shortened shocks, .

Regarding the shocks, for some reason the Monroe site doesn't list the part numbers for the lowered shocks. It only states the standard ones. Last time I looked, this wasn't the case.

Your local Autobarn have all the info. My one have a lot of helpful folk.
