OMG...just starting fixing up some of the issues(and i use "issues" VERY loosely)...and as mentioned in another thread...was gonna start gettin pics of the work...to make "How To's"
on the roadworthy it stated "L/H indicator not auto returning"
simple job....replacing the indicator/headlight mechanism....so took it off the our other vk...aka "the beta car"...no worries....
started on the recipient vehicle....
got as far as taking the the steering wheel off....and realised some dodgey wiring had been done....so now to change the indicator mechanism...have to do some "dodgey wiring" of my own.....
this prompted a perusal of the car....and i noticed a LOAD of things that were dodgey....damn "love at first sight"!!!!!!
so as i find s@!t wrong the beast...gonna post piks here...to show the beginners(like me)...how NOT to do it....
.....look out for future editions...."Speaker wire through...yes THROUGH... a dash panel", "Speaker round the seatbelt" and "Investigation into Bathroom exhaust replaces radiator fan"....
same channel....not even remotely the same time.....
p.s. look out in the next few days for the "how to remove a vk steering wheel: How To...
WHAT?!?!? ..maybe SOMEONE can't figure it out....
I can imagine the opening spiel for that one: "So, you've decided to convert your car to 240V. Here's how to do it using all those throwaway items in the shed..."Originally Posted by justinp
All old cars come with their own story, some more interesting than others depending on how owners they've been through. Like when I started getting a small amount of rust in the right-hand rear quarter of my VC. Sand back to bare metal and what do I find? Lovely pink bog liberally applied in copious amounts keeping the back end of the car together. Or the bottom of the spare wheel arch - fibreglass over untreated bare metal, including covering that pesky drain hole - that sure prevents the rust!! The wiring for the replacement stereo was probably as messy as your VK is - evidence of a small fire is not good for the budding auto sparky!! Looking forward to your stories.
