hey guys,
just recently i have converted my auto to a 5 speed celica box but now it is playing up..........
sometimes when i want to change gears i put my foot on the clutch and move the gearstick it feels like im hitting a brick wall in any gear and have to stop then turn off the car to change gears....
this is a dangerous problem :my:
is this related to changing over to manual as i had my tail shaft shorntened!!!
thanx in advance
Hmmm if that was the case the internals could be rooted. But is the clutch set up right? might need a bit more adjustment

Just a question what oil are you using in the gearbox?
There is a common misconception to use 90w gear oil in gearboxes.
Personally I have been using VMX 80 for quite a few years now with fantastic results.

What sort of tailshaft is it strait through or split and is the clutch cable
I think im using 90W like scott said, but im no 100% sure yet.....
The tailshaft is the normal Vk tailshaft and I've used the toyota clutch cable.......as i tried a Vk cable but that one was stretched
either the clutch isnt set right.. or the gearbox is broken :|
Ok well if your using 90w oil more than likely thats your problem.
Take your car for a drive for a while get the gearbox oil up to temp, take it home and drain the oil. Check the oil for metal fragments, if there are metal fragments you can identify them as follows.
Gold sort of colour is syncro rings
Silver & attracted to magnet either bearings or gears or both.
Silver & not attracted to magnet alloy parts, housing etc.
If the oil looks ok, I would refill it with with new VMX80.
cheers
