The VKs were first introduced in Feb 1984, I seriously doubt holden still building VH commodores in January 1984 as they would have been building VKs so somethings a miss.

You'd have to be right Scott. My car was built in September 1984 and first registered in Feb? 1985. When I re-regged at Vicroads, they put down on the rego as a 1985 Calais even though I said it was built September '84. They didn't listen because they were looking at old reg data anyway.

So yeah, it doesn't make it a 84 built car. Maybe 84 was the year of first registration though.

Could be something to do with model year, like VZs built after september 2005 (i think) were 2006 models

Looks like you have a very rare car one of the last probably built. I would have thought holden would have been tooling up & building the VK in Jan 84 for release in Feb 84.

Also wouldnt it be easier to just get a set from Transport SA ?? Cus Im fair sure you cant transfer them & use them here... You cant keep regular ones, so maybe its different for Custom plates?

im on the corner side but im not home much. well organise something for the weekend. and i asked at work and i cant transfer the plates to south australian. anyway i like the ones ive got on the car now.
