Default Tripmetre and Odometre on and off?

Hey, I've got a VH commodore SL/X. Sometimes the trip metre and odometre work and sometimes they don't. Example, it worked for 2 days then stopped then worked for half a day and has now stopped again. I figured it may be a lose connection somewhere, so I took the cover off the instrument panel and removed the speedo only to find no wires behind it, just a metal rod thing that the speedo sort of connects to. So my question is, where can I find the connections for the trip/odometre that could be loose? Any wires or anything?

    Thanks in advance -SPD.

it would be the metal cog on that rod thats sliping.. use some good old "heat proof" supergloe and it should be fine..

Okay, I have confirmed that it IS the metal cog that's slipping. It says here 'Speedo Help' that I need to remove the face to glue this wheel. That would mean the needle must be removed. I don't know how to do that and it says it's a bugger to replace. I can't see how I would superglue that wheel anyway. Any tips? I don't wanna break the speedo aswell.

Damm straight, thanx all for advice but it was the metal cog that was slipping on its drive, superglue to the rescue!!! works a treat.

remove the white cog, and pull the rod out.. i havent had to glue the metal cog but it does look tricky.. :| i only had to glue the white one back on.

but yea if u have to pull the white one off, dont forget to glue it back on!
