just want a few opinions....
i was talking to some guys at work and a couple of other wreckers trying to work out what would be better.
ive been thinking of 5.0L or 5.7L efi for the beast....
now some guys have said to buy a complete engine with loom
and others have said all i need is top end stuff... heads, manifold, rail, computer, ect
the second option sounds good cos i can keep the trimatic but will it work
what do ya's think???
thax
I rather get the complete motor.
By the time you get a complete top end, you need $$$ to get a new cam, auto elec to wire the lot up. Also the trimatic might not like the increase of power and torque either.

yeah the trimatic would need soime serious toughening up to be able to handle the power a an injected 5ltr or 5.7. be better off just buying a complete motor and trans and get it put in there professionally. i looked around for a injected 5ltr in my VH and i got the best quote of $4800 for a second hand motor and trans straight from a wreck. and then they said it would be another $1000 to get all the wiring done. and they didnt think the stock diff would last too long either.

5Ltr is an easy job, check my site, lol I will wire one up for a $1000.
A 5L is much easier than a 5.7L the GenIII needs loads of work to fit including relocating the starter motor etc. Even a 5L & gearbox can be purchased for around $3000-$4000. I bought my 5L & T5 for $3500 including all the extra parts I needs like tailshaft, fuse box, wiring harnesses etc
cheers
