    Question Caliper paint

Just checked out the Speco site. They have VHT caliper paint. Just wondering if anyone has painted their calipers. What was your technique?
    What colour did you use?

This VHT stuff can go up to 482 degrees celcuis so it can handle some very hot brake calipers

    Thanks.

Don't go red claipers, everyone seems to do it. I used this on my SL/E, silver in colour. The paint has lasted, well its a bit dirty
What i did with mine was cleaned them up, if they off the car it will be better, a light sand with wet and dry, then just gave the calipers a heap of coats.

Whats wrong with red calipers?? My rears were red when I bought them.
Just coz HSV paint their calipers red everyone else has to paint theirs red. I will stick to my HSVs

The plain alloy looks fine to me, else you could polish them

    cheers

Thanks guys. At first I thought about red, then maybe blue. But then I thought maybe not red, and now I think I will do red! Confused?

Maybe any of you can answer this as well.

On the VHT site, they list their engine enamel paint with the available colours.
Can you please tell me what is the difference between Holden blue, GM blue, Chevy V8 blue, New Ford blue and Ford competition blue? Too many blues!
Which of the above blues is like the below blue?:

Ever thought of colour coding them to your car?? Just a thought.

Personally I think silver calipers would suit a Cerulean coloured car, Red, Yellow, or blue would make them stand out but personally painting them those colours is only going to attract attention to the brakes if you dont have the goods I dont see the point

Bare metal is boring. At least if you paint them, you can see the grease on the paint and then it's easier to clean

Don't go red! It'll make it look like you're trying to make the car look like it's comething it's not (ie, an HSV)...

I've never understood the difference between calliper paint and engine enamel. Did my callipers in black engine enamel - and 12 months on they're still going strong!

    That was a mistake...

Engine paint is rated at 287 degrees c and caliper paint is rated at 482 degrees c according to the VHT paints site. Brakes must get over 300 degrees c under extreme braking.
