    Default Fanbelt Troubles.

My VH is making a sound in the morning that sounds as though the fanbelt is loose. However after about 10min. the sound goes away and is not heard again untill the next morning when I first start it again. Sometimes if I first start it in the afternoon it makes the sound alos, but that is rare. Any ideas as to what may be causing the problem and how to fix it? It's a blue 202, 3.3L straight 6.

It could be a bit of oil or grease on it. It might need adjusting. The belts should have about 7-9mm flex in them. So if you pull on a belt, it should go as far as about 7-9mm. Don't overtighten the belts though as this puts stress on the pulley and bearings.

Don't use beltgrip while the engine's running, though - the sudden grip can actually cause the belt to grip and belt you in the face - not pretty I'd imagine
