Hello
I was wondering if anybody had a guide on installing one of these things into a VC?
The wiring part is easy just the boot release it's self...
I can upload pics later on if that will help.
I'm also interested in this mod, sounds like a great idea.. I'll be keeping a keen eye on this one![]()
Same i would like to know as well
Providing the VC boot lock is about the same as a VK one is, all you need is some wiring (5 amp wire will do) a fuse holder and solenoid kit like off a VK or even just any pulling type solenoid and use a bent peice of wire to pull the lock. Oh yeah and a momentary push button. I might have some diagrams in some of my books which I will scan if anyone is interested.
Personally I disconnected my pushbutton switch in the glovebox of my VK. I use the alarm keypad to operate it. At least I have prevented theives from braking into my car and try to pop my boot not that there is much to steal. :my:
You need a VK or VL boot latch as the earlier models dont have the lever to connect to the solenoid.Originally Posted by Goon
If you want to hook it up the same as a VK/VL you will need the momentry switch and bracket from the glovebox of the VK/VL. some 5amp wire.
On my car I used a relay on the boot solenoid which helped a bit, I also added a second relay for my alarm so I could remotely open my boot. My alarm uses a negative trigger for the aux circuit, the relay converts it to positive for it to activate the boot release.
Not that the wiring is hard but I have the standard wiring diagrams on my site.
cheers

Electric Boot Release

"Where is the metal wire from the boot release supposed to connect to please anyone? I’m guessing the one metal piece sticking out that the VL boot latch has but the VC. boot latch doesn’t have?"
my vc has one, and as far as i'm aware it's factory fitted
couldu possible take a picture boot release connected to the boot latch ?
haven't got the digi camera here, but i took it off and it looks just like the vl one (the one with the extra tab) you will just have to bolt up the solenoid at the right length and your away......
Allright cheers mate, i'll give it a test after![]()
remember to test it with the key (or screwdriver) first, or you may end up shutting the boot and not being able to open it if it's not lined up correctly (vl mechanism) just be careful or you could end up with a permanently locked boot
This one is out of the Holden manual. There isn't really much to it as long as you have all the parts, it's just a matter of aligning it and putting it in.

It's out of the VK supplement manual, so it's a VK set up.
possible to put one of them in a VB?

Wiring is really simple 1 +12v feed, it earths to the boot lid.
Your best to wire it up as follows, (its how I did my VK)
Use any constant 12+ feed to the switch in the glovebox or whereever you mount the switch. Connect the other pole of the switch to the trigger wire on a relay and a substantial 12+ feed, run the output from the relay down to the boot latch solenoid and connect it up.
Im working on a new update to my site at the moment so i will look intot he wiring diagram.

If you do install an automatic boot release just make sure you don't keep anything valuable in the boot like subs or amps. Thats how the damn theives got my system. Or I suppose you could hide the button up under the dash somewhere. I have disconnected mine, it made it too easy for the bastards. Standard location for it is in the glovebox on vl's which everybody probably knows about.
myn has got 1 as wall i got a ket off ebay
if anyone is interested PM me as i can suply all the bits u need to do it as i ahve a couple of vl's here =)
