hi I just want to know what wood be a good cam for more power
What gearing are you running?
what size rims & tires?
What else is done to the engine? Head porting, induction, manifold, exhaust, ignition?
how do you want to drive the car? flat out, daily driver?
All the above come into picking a cam grind, valve lift will depend on what valve gear your running, duration & lobe offset will also be determined by other mods done to the engine and the purpose of the car.

it has 15 inch wheels. the engine is standard and just want some more power
the is going to usd for working horse and getting around
also I am rebulding the engine
With the limited info you provide it hard to recommend a CAM, but
Something around the following specs should give a reasonable idle, mild performance with good drivability and not be too hard on valve gear.
112deg lobe separation
Valve Timing : Duration : .050" duration
Inlet 29/69 : 280 : 215
Exhaust 79/30 : 290 : 225
Inlet lift .485"
Exhaust lift .485"-.505"
This shoud give you power starting around 2000-2100 up to around 5000-5200 RPM depending on your valve gear, heads, carbie etc. It should work reasonably well in a stockish setup and respond well to mods in exhaust, heads, inlet manifold & carbie.

what stage is that cam
Forget the stage crap thats just marketing hype that can mean anything. The blokes given you the proper specs for the cam. Another cheap option is to replace the cam sprocket with a pre pollution red motor one.Originally Posted by holden 308
Thanks TigerVH, that stage crap really bugs me
The cam is a mid range cam verging on performance specs. A cam grind any more agressive would require bottom end work, better pistons, head work, induction etc. It will work well with a stock engine setup as I said and will respond very well to simple mods.
The cam profile isnt very steep so its easy on valve gear. I also provided the power band it should work it as well.
I really dont know what more I can say

Crane cams are a good way to go, but it depends on what other things u are using component wise. For eg: are u going to go with a solid, mechinacal or hydrolic cam?
U also need to find out about lifters if u go solid cam. What sort of rockers do u have? Almost forgot when u do change cams u will also need to remap the dizzy to suit cam grind.
A fairly good eg is myself, i just stroked my VH to a 355 ci as apose to a 308 ci, i have a crane hydrolic cam with hydrolic lifters to suit with, a duration of 286 degrees and a lift of 550 thou, i also have tripple valve springs, Dave Bennet aloy heads flowing 500 horses. Depends on what sort of money u want to spend!!!!!!!!
There is also CROW cams but i know nothing of these!!
U can try Yella Terra (Ask for Pat, Mike)!!!!!
CRANE CAMS.
CROW CAMS.
and PERFORMANCE IGNITION (Dizzy remapping) Ask for Peter!!!!
This will keep u busy, anything else just ask!!!!!
CHEERS!!!!
crow are good, dont under any circumstances mix crow lifters with crane cams or vice versa..
Excuse my ignorance but why not?Originally Posted by Cane_It
