Default need traumatic for VH 2.85, will any do?

I need a new gearbox for my VH, but I'm not sure if there were different models of trimatic made, or if any will do the job?

I vaguely remember hearing soemthing about 202 trimatics being different or soemthing... duon't know...

It's going to end it's life as a paddock-basher, so I'm not overly fussy, I just don't want to get something that might not bolt up

    Thumbs up

Information taken from the GM VH manual...

    Transmission codes

The transmission identification plate carries the transmission serial number and application code. The following codes are used for VH Series Trimatic Transmissions.

    Transmission code Engine
    FY 1.9 L4
    LL 2.8 L6
    FP 3.3 L6
    FR 4.2 V8
Basically, if you get a transmission, it should have a tag on the side which says the transmission code.
Technically I don't see why any six transmission wouldn't fit on your VH.

    Default

They are all interchangable just make sure the bolt pattern is for your motor and the gear selector is on the correct side. (some are on the right and some are on the left)
