    Angry damn thieving fools!

Last night over at my girlfriends place some fools try to break into my VK.
Luckily at the time my girlfriend was sitting in a car nearby seeing her friend off, when she saw these two woggy teenagers approach my car and duck down behind it.... i dunno what came over her but she jumped outta the car, screaming and shouting 'WHAT THE F*^& YOU DOING?!'
Gave em a hell of a scare and they piss bolted (plus 1 to the missus!).

Anyway after an inspection of my car and the area surrounding there was no damage on it, but there was a VK key lying on the ground nearby it... tried it in the locks but it didnt work.

So I'm assuming they are just a couple of teenagers looking to rack some car audio gear or whatever they can get their hands on. Gives me the shits tho... who they think they are trying to break into my car!?

In the end i yanked out my stereo and speakers (just in there temporarily while i get a new car), and am now looking around for an alarm/immobiliser. I know they arent much of a deterrant nowadays but at least it keeps away the little morons from trying to get in with a key they find lying around or a screwdriver or something..

anyway just wanted to vent, thanks for your time

lol they ran from a girl? hehe just kiddin, good on your girlfreind ay! my crazy missus probly woulda ran after 'em too! she knows I dig my car

but yea I'd say they might own an early commodore, or atleast have done this before because many people know how easy it is to break into them, and theres a good chance that keys from another car will easily open your locks. I had a set that were able to open and start my mates car! yet would only start mine, and I needed another one for the door!
Since then I've deleted the factory door locks and now have keyless entry. Tis' friggin' sweeet!

If you have an auto you can put a padlock around the shifter that way even if they get in and can start it they cant get it out of park and thus ****ed, your stereo and stuff might get nicked but your car cant get nicked and ****ed over.

eh, bez the cheapest thing you can do as a quick fix is to wire your horn up to your interior door light it is easy to do and will save you the expense of an alarm if you are looking at changing your car soon. I hate Pric*s who do that shit, I had my vr rear quarter window smashed in the gawler place hi rise car park they nicked off with Cds and about $30.00 in 5,10, and 20 cent pices. I was so angry not worth claiming on insurance cos of $300.00 excess just a real inconvenience.
    I feel for ya mate.

i put solex locks on the VK and found it was a HUGE deterrant. As soon as i put them on, breakins went down from once a fortnight to once in 2 years.

The last time they got in (very annoyingly the day before the VK retired), they didnt even try the barrels and went straight for the rear quarter window. At least the window was $7 which is cheaper than a set of barrels.

I highly recommend anyone with a VB-VL put solex locks on.

Another thing i found, is that repco sells a brand of ignition barrel called NICE, which is a lot better than the genuine holden. They are made out of better steel (not butter steel), and have the plastic bit on the key which makes things easier. They sell for $40

That sounds like a good idea but i reckon i'll go witht he alarm/immobiliser, as im keeping the vk as a backup car (has sentimental value so i cant bear to part with it). Problem with my insurance is because im under 21 my excess jumps up $700 to $950, so it's pretty useless when the car is only worth about a grand.
    Thanks for the advice tho,
    cheers Bezz

    Default well it happened again....

So here we are a month later...
I'm yet to get an alarm fitted because I'm strapped for cash (hooray for being a uni student!), and last night my car got broken into out the front of my house, just metres from where my family was sleeping. They yanked the head unit, all my cds (luckily most burnt) and a few dollars from the console. Only damage was to the inside of the drivers side door lock.

i do have a feeling someone came witht he intention of stealing the head unit.. they knew exactly what to look for, altho i doubt itd be any of my friends. I'll keep an eye out around the neighbourhood for em tho! I think i better get off my ass and advertise the vn also, its taking up valuable garage space that the vk needs! hint: someone buy it now! cmon, its got gas!

Im tryin my good man, im tryin to get rid of it for ya, be good to see you in a new beast. Surely your old man must know someone that would want it, you almost live in the sticks, someone out your way must want an economical car to drive. But yes, castrate the bastards when you find them, ill help, could make for an interesting story in 40 years time
