    Default Vh Ss

    hey guys
im just looking at a VH SS, and was wondering if they had hte HDT plate anywhere under the bonnet? or even if it is an original SS.

    the numbers are
    VH8VK69-XV2
    593702-A
    1980-79T
    IF075-D
    built in MAY 83
    L31 M21 CU4

the interior feels like wool! it has dominant black stitching.... and is a light brown, crossed with dark brown.

any info on this car would be appreciated. it has rear discs, lsd, and also an immobiliser, but i dont know if that is stock or not.

    cheers
    vincent

Only the Group 1, 2 or 3 has the HDT plate under the bonnet.

Those numbers that you have posted up are proper VH SS numbers.
They all had LSD diffs, this one has the bigger 10 bolt Sals.
The interior is a mixture of tweed cloth and vinyl in a darker claret colour.
The L31 is a 308 blue 5litre(a lucky SS) M21 aussie close ratio 4 speed manual
the CU4 is not the correct code, should be GU4 which is 3.08:1 diff ratio

593702-A is the body number, A is an Adelaide built commodore
1980-79T trim code. 1980 is the colour(dark claret) 79T tweed cloth
IF075-D Paint code. I think the colour is red(not good with paint codes).
I have a single sheet VH SS sales brochure here, doesn't have much info though.

    I hope this helps

Well anything between $1500-9000 really. These cars are the base for HDT VH SS Group 1, 2 or 3.

the one i am looking at has a perfectly straight body, but is in paint primer, and needs a respray. engine seems pretty good, leaking from what apears to be rear main seal. has AC, powersteering.

do you konw what kW these engines put out?

how much would i be looking at for a decent spray job, in original red ofcourse.

    are these SS pretty rare?
    thanks

yes they are rare. But sounds like someone put the AC on it cause they wasn't factory.
I think the pump out 126kW.
Oh the red is Marenello Red(spelling). Usually red paints is one of the dearest cause everyone wants it!.
You should pay $5000 or more for a top notch respray

Yeah I'd say they are becoming that way now due to age...cheap price and the teenagers writing them off.
