Hey all, just a question, iv seen 3.8 v6's from vn's go into vk's, i can get my hands on a cheap engine but i am not sure if i install it properly (not bodgy) do i still need a engineers certificate or do i just get it inspected for rego?
cheers any comments would be appreciated
Pretty sure you'd need an engineers, as the engine was not an option for that car. May be wrong though
I would imagine that it would have to have an engineer cert. As you will be changing the engine mounts, fuel lines (?) etc. I have read that an engineer cert should be around the 500 mark, again, just trying to remember stuff that i've previously read, so forgive me if i am wrong.
Yes you will need an engineers certificate if you go to a larger engine or a newer non standard engine. This will require things like the installation being up to scratch and the wiring is all correct and safe and that the brakes are up to the task (you will need 4 wheel discs as minimum). You will need to modify the floor of the car for a place to put the CAT or CATS and all the pollution gear for that particular motor must be installed and working correctly.
all u need is a blue plate. u can use all the same fuel lines and shit but a bigger fuel pump. i got a vk with a vp 3.8 and its wicked. make sure u have the dash or the gauges out the old car to put in and u have to have a disc back end.
thanx guys u have been a big help, ill keep you posted on my progress
cheers
