Hi, my older brother gave me a $200 vk afew months back for my 1st car and i converted it to a calais. i've got the 3.3efi, the brock blue interior pretty much all of the calais running gear. the only problem i have now is my kms on my digital dash dont work. my revs, heat, fuel sensors are working fine just that km metre! i went to commwreck and they suggested a transducer that i brought for $70, i put that in and checked all the plugs at the back of the dash with a test light. could the transducer be faulty? or could it be the plastic gear at the end of the cable that runs down to the box. can anyone help me out?
Cheers, Robbie
ditch it!!!
the digital dashes are rubbish...
why do you think they aren't even used now?
my girls VK is exactly the same, and the bastard thing landed her a nice speeding fine with the dashes help... :P
the wreckers don't have a flipping clue, we bought a whole new dash to put in, they said it had been tested etc, charged 120 bucks, nada, zip, nutting, didn't even light up... grrr...
know a few people that have just gone with aftermarket autometer dashes etc... expensive, but would look shit hot...

How is your speedo set up? Have you screwed in the transducer/speed sensor into the cruise control unit or are you using the transducer/speed sensor by itself with the speedo cable connected directly to it? You should have a 3 wire lead connected to the transducer cylinder. Have you connected that? It's possible that the speedo gear might be stripped and totally slipping.Originally Posted by A-TEAM AUTOMOTIVE
My gear was slipping a lot and I ended up jamming a tooth pick into it and it did the trick. I also had a bad transducer that wasn't connecting right and I replaced it and it then worked fine.Bummer about you paying 70 bucks for the unit. Ebay have them varying from $30 to $150. Depends how many psycho bidders are there at the time.
If you mean you are using the cruise master/transducer together, check that the cruise master control unit have both the inputs spinning together. Like a cable connects to one input and the electronic transducer/speed sensor connects to the other input. Disconnect it and check that when you turn one of the inputs, that the other one turns with it. I have three of them and only one works. I also have 3 speed sensors and one doesn't work right.
Good luck.
the transducer i brought says cruise master on it. the bloke said its a transducer, im running a wire directly to it. but what about the vacume hoses? my dad said they look ###t so i should connect them, r they very important?
Cheers, Robbie
The vacuum hoses are only for cruise control. They connect to the manifold and the throttle diapragm on the firewall.
aye zoist i was looking all over ebay for a transducer/ cruise master and i couldnt find jack! if you know what key word i should use or if you have the link, i'd really appreciate it. thanks alot

Search under Holden in the parts for cruise control, speed sensor and transducer:

There might not be much showing but check every 2-3 days and something might come up.
Sometimes there is a bit of psycho bidding going on with the cruise units.
Btw, I don't know why Holden call the cruise masters a transducer because a transducer is really a device that converts an energy like an electrical signal to a mechanical signal. I call the cylinder thing the transducer and the cruise unit just a cruise control module.
ok, thanks alot man. ura champion
