Well with my Blue 202 i know putting extractors on will increase the torque and better fuel eco. For the thermo fans this will make things easier on the engine, in turning over wise etc..

There more mods u can do, but u need to make some adjustments in order to get more power.

depends what car... black motors all different in different cars...

I had a black "torquer" motor in my VK wagon, and it was flogged, i put no time or effort into the poor girl and she went like the clappers... the very few times I got her tuned, she would arc up fromt he lights on 15" 195's without brake etc with 2 people in the car and half a tank of fuel...

had mates with 253, 308 commies and kingswoods at the time, none of their's could... hehe... and very good pick-up, often took off a lot wuicker formt he mark than even recent model cars... I was proud of her! Just wish I'd taken better car of her...

ended up kiling the box (3rd time.. lol ) and for last 4 months only had 1st... and when i took her around the block a few times just to keep her running sounded like a deadset nascar booting it around... i miss her...

how could i make my EFI 202 quicker down low? its kinda sluggish off the line, then when it gets to say 40 it picks up and accelerates really quickly to 70, then its just normal after that. i just want more bottom end torque for off the line

Yeah definately, pissing off the crank driven fan will give around 4kw and 10nm and will allow it to rev more freely. just get some thermo fans fitted instead.
Manual transmission is also allot more powerful than an auto.

yeah its really all about the NM bigger engines have lots of nm which is what actually propells the car not the KW. If you look at 4 cylinder cars they have shit NM figures.

cool, so just out of experience or general knoledge, if i brought a vk with a back motor, and put extractors, exaust, clean it up, serviced and tuned, cai, a basic do over, new fuel and oil pump's, new belts, new gears, cams, replace the carbie, a few other basic (also cheap lol) mods, what power would i be getting roughly, also if i had a recondition done, would that change it, also im aware that each car/motor is different im just searching for an everage/general idea, cause i dont wanna put money into a black motor if its gunna be pointless when i could do such things as just replace with a 3.8 litre vn motor......well if anyone has any idea's thanks, if not i do realise im being very picky lol, but thanks guy's

well it all depends on how you replace all the parts you mentioned, If you replace the parts with more (new) standard parts it will make the motor have the stock figure you quoted 86kw because many of the kw's escape over the years. A reco is only necessary if the motors had it and has lost compression. replacing the parts with better parts will give gains in power but only if you do it smartly. Carby swap is not necessary as the varajet is pretty efficient on a warm motor.

Things you could chase up for power are- shorter diff ratio (better take off), manual conversion (goes well hard), a cam, extractors and exhaust, yella terra head. And after all that you can fit a 350 holley and redline intake manifold (check your states emmissions laws first tho)-(In VIC you can't have them on anything after 1976 unless its on gas)
