Any advice on fitting a 350 holley to a 202 black
You need to buy an adaptor plate to suit the manifold..... Get a V8 accelerator cable and you will have to bend the bracket for the accelerator return spring which you will also have to purchase
before i get ahead of myself how much power could be gained and ive heard it can make it more economical
It can make it more economical now can it? Fuel......
In all my conversions you actually loose a little fuel economy but you gain a little power and depending if you fit a choke you can get a lot of start up problems when it is really cold.
what sought of extractors go well pacemaker, luky.
I love my bucket
Don't even dream about getting more economy from the small Holley. You'll pick up some more power simply because you'll be pouring more money...er sorry, petrol down into the engine. Starting the thing from cold is sometimes tricky. Be prepared to feather the throttle a little in the mornings unless you get your electric choke sorted well.
Me, I probably wouldn't bother with a Holley at all. Try a Weber first.
Good luck.
yes weber off xe yeah know that know now thanks anyway
I love my bucket

Holley - fuel waster... Weber - bit of mucking round to get it sussed... Really, a good move is to rebuild the stock carb, which i mention was designed by the rochester co. in the states, with some bigger jets and a nice clean out, you'll have some decent fuel eccom aswell as a more power than the weber shall give you... The weber has the advantage of bigger jets and throut as stock, but if its goin on a mild engine, i'd personally stick with a done-up rochester varijet...
350 holley is awesome, i put one on my VB 202 red, a hand made adaptor plate was made, by myself and a mate out of alloy, it was spaced up about 1 1/2" - 2" and we jetted it down, gave it a thourough rebuild and cleaned everything spotless, then put it all on and tuned it up and she ran heaps good, was bout the same fuel economy as the original single barrel stromberg, but lots more go, also put extractors on it, ran alright for a bit, then i blue the engine up doing a top speed of about 150km/h with a 3.55:1 diff ratio and a 4 speed manual, revved the ****er to bits, but i think they run awesome, not sure on the black motor, how much polution shit on there carbys, holley dont got much, also had to modify a air cleaner so it sat lower, so i could shut the bonnet
cheers, if you want something easy i would rebuild the original and maybe jet it up a little
How long would it take for the holley to screw the piston rings?
I ran mine for the first time since the holley went on (And thaught it had been jetted for a 202) then went to run a compression test and are pretty sure the rings are gone? Could 10 minutes of running have done this?
How do I check the jet sizing?
absolutely not. i suppose it could if you leaned it out to the point of stalling then revved the crap out of it for 10 minutes... maybe.
the jets (i only know 4 barrels, so 350 may be different) are on the metering block. undo the four screws of the fuel bowl, crack the seal and gently take off the fuel bowl (the gaskets are easily broken, but also you have to be careful to take it off straight cos' there are locating pins on the carb body which can snap off) behind the fuel bowl will be two brass jets with a number stamped on the side of them. itll prolly be around 60-80.
Well it was spitting fuel everywhere and we had to set the float level once we got that set so that it would Idle we just idled it for 5-10 minutes. It still has to be tuned properly.
What size SHOULD I have on my 202 for them to be the right size?
had one on my old vc blue 202 ran like a dream and started first time everytime idle straight away even in very cold conditions and got about 120klm further out of a tank of fuel in comparison to a varijet. it take quiet a bit of tuning to get it that way but it can be done. I would go for the weber over the holley though much better carb for street use.
I was considering doing it until many mechanics told me not to. The guy i bought my VK off has a 202 with a holley 350 and it goes well, checs petrol though.
Just remember anything can be done, it is just a matter of money
yo guys do realise that this thread is 4 years old, right? i only posted to answer blinkys question.
no i dont check dates when the couple of posts above are recent.
