Do you want 2nd hand items or New?
Do you want to do it yourself? "I've done everything myself so far and it's saved heaps.."
Do you have a manual for your car yet? "book" If not best to get one, this can also help with doing things yourself..
extractors/exhausr.. wont st ya back much and itll make it sound sexy and go better..![]()

wat size rims do you think i not big fan of rice rollers
im in the process of doing up my vk sl on the cheap also. So far i've got a set of polished vl calais rims, lowered it, a vl calais interior, a nice mp3 deck and 6x9s, and am about to buy some calais door panels, a berlina tacho dash, and some vl calais taillights. Later on I'm also gonna put extractors and an exhaust on it. Nice neat little package for someone on a budget!
how much have you sent so far considering ya havnt done any engine work
not much honestly, the rims were about 350-400 just polished with new tyres, lowering was very cheap - only did the front coz the gas cylinder weighs it down on the back. The interior i got given by a wrecker mate because i set up his shop on ebay, and the stereo i took outta my vn!
unfortunately i havent got the interior in yet, as i need to reupholster the front seats, and do something about some damn cigarette burns!
its amazing how much a good set of rims and lowering it a bit can make it look aint it and would ya be able to get a pic because ya dont see many sl s there all calais
haven't got any recent ones but here's one from when it was grandpa spec, just after i put the wheels on. and yes i've since lost the roof racks!

Hey that's pretty clean... certainly better thank alot of VK's going around.
I'd probably not do too much to the outside unless you were going to go the full respray. A clean stocky vk is still very nice. So for the moment i'd look at some under the bonnet gear.. get it running as good as as it looks.
Driving a CURSED WH V6.
yea im not doing too much more to the outside, the plastic metal stuff on the doors is a bit dented from various shopping centre carpark incidents and the like, hence im taking them off and putting the calais bits on.
Also the sl striping sticker on the top of the doors is a bit stuffed so thats going too.
As for under the bonnet, the old engine seems a bit tired (197k), so perhaps a rebuild or something is on the cards in the future, the steering rack needs attention and the valve stem seals need to be done (chewing thru oil whenever i start it up!).
i need a bearing kit convertit back to a manual an she'll be good
nice and clean mines the same colour
yea im quite happy with it. It was originally my grandfather's car, he since passed away and left it to me. Its only a second car (main car at the moment as I'm still selling my vn... someone PPPPLLLLLEEEEAASSSEEE buy it!), but it holds alot of sentimental value, so I wanna do it up just a little bit, get it looking nice and keep it for a long time. The thing drives really nicely... GO THE MIGHTY VK!
a pic for inspiration not mine will have pic of mine soon
Its the duel fuel which makes the motor seem sluggish, as its tuned for the lesser fuel (petrol). Gas has a much higher octane rating so the tune for dual fuel doesn't make good power with either of these fuels as its set in between them so both fuels will run. Go and get it dyno tuned for gas and run gas only, you will definately notice the difference oh yes.
It already is tuned for gas i believe. However it is overdue for a service/tune up, so i'll get it done soon and make sure it is definately for gas.
Cheers
here i finally got a pic
