Hey,
Just filled the VH up and was parked at the local. Came out 1hr later and there was a puddle of petrol under the tank. I was parked on a slight downward slope to the tank side. Just wondering if it just overflowed or if there could be a problem. I personally think it just overflowed but it didn't come from where the nozzle of the pump hose goes. It's come from under the car, it's all down the side of the tank. I didn't fill passed the 'click'.
Cheers, John.
I'm not sure what your problem is mate, but i would do an insepection asap.
you don't wanna catch on fire now..![]()
Look at the breather pipes, which is hidden under a removable panel at the back drivers side wheel. After a while these perish and leak a lot of fuel.
Ok here is a pic of what i'm on about!. I had to replace all of mine after the old VB tank had a hole and replaced it with a VK item.

Cheers Damien"SL/ENUT" Smith, The SL/E Fanatic!
A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!
as well as checking all the lines on the tank unfortunatly requires dropping the tank down to to get to the tight ones you may also have a split around the inlet pipe from this is the piece thats goes from the tank to filler in body of car (hope that made sense) as these are only soldered on and have a tendency to crack causing the tank to leak
mine did it twice. from then on, i'd only put in 3/4 of a tank.
ECOTEC KICKED IN yO!!!!!!
I have this excact same problem! One day I decided to calculate the fuel economy on the vh, so I filled it to the brim then paid, walked back outside the servo to find a large puddle very precious 1.20c/l fuel dripping from the tank!Lucky for me I'm too poor to ever fill the thing very often though!
So cheers SL/ENUT, you've just answered a question for me too! I was just gonna replace the whole thing with a vl tank so I could take advantage of the elecy fuel pump and return line aswell, (I still may in future) as I run triples and fuel supply needs to be monitored.
But in the meantime I'll just replace those fuel breather lines pictured. Are they all the standard 5/16'' fuel line?
i had the exact same thing here is a photo

of the rear drivers side wheel arch.
with a lot of fiddling, i just dropped the tank on to a jack about 50mm to do all the pipes. much better than pulling right out.
Well, that was the only time it's ever done it in the 7mnths I've had it. And it hasn't leaked anymore since. I don't wanna go through all that atm, and I haven't got the money. So I'll see how she goes and if it happens again then I'll have to fix it.
A VL tank will need the snout chopped and joined with a rbber joiner available from most lpg conversion places to fit in a VH or VK, I've been down that road, also pay attention to how the sender is attached (twist i fitting or 6 bolts), safest bet is to get a tank that your sender will go straight into, its a job where anything that can go wrong will go wrong unless you pay a fair bit off attention to detail. it's easier with a mate to help esp for puttin the new one in cos the straps can be hard to get on, axle stands and a trolley jack and lump of wood
