Hey all,
After so long I've got the indicators and everything, but I'm unable to test the lights due to something not being right. I've got the VC book but it's not very helpful at all. I looked at the earths in the boot (two of them yeah?) and they look fine, then I checked the fuses and they also appear fine! Chris told me it could be a relay (whatever that means), does this mean the car is screwed or is there still hope?
Any suggestions/comments/ideas welcome as I'm getting upset with the poor car![]()
Where the lights are in the boot, attach a wire to where one of the earth wires is attached on your tail lights and connect it to the chassis where a good earth connection is. Also make sure the battery negative cable is connected to a good chassis earth too. Test it out and it might be ok. Older Commos have the bad earth problem and sometimes requires you to connect another earth in the boot to the chassis.
Check your fuse mate make sure its sitting in place right or it isnt faulty.
Then check your wirring from A to b, maybe with a digital mulitimeter to see if there is any power running ina certain wire.
You may even want to renew wires as they do get old. eg. dirt, grease, rust
the fuse rail is probably melted, common problem with VB-VL
you can get non melty fuse rails, a guy on calaisturbo makes limited runs of them
Whats the headlight switch like? these can be faulty.

They can melt too! My brothers did and ended up getting one from the wreckers. I had a look at it and I couldn't repair it.Originally Posted by SL/ENUT
Ahhh ha the combination switch needs to be replaced. When these wobble way to much they cause some minor electric faults.

Digital mulitimeterIt's the best thing to test wiring for volts etc
