Anyone pulled off a 202 oil pump?
Well this 202 VK is my bros. and I am almost certain that it's the culprit that is spraying oil on the right hand engine bay and underneath. I can't think where else this oil is coming from. For over a year, oil has built up and I need to give it a big degrease at the car wash and pull off the oil pump and replace the block gasket as well as the oil pump cover gasket. Seems to be simple enough to do according to my 6 and 8 cylinder improved performance Holden book. Just four bolts to take it off.
I must note that the bolts are a 5/16 head according to the book and I tell you what, I almost couldn't find a spanner or socket head that is 5/16 here. Damn why they use a rare bolt head I don't know. If they maybe had of used 3/8 bolt heads then that is easy to find a socket or spanner for it.

*This is an answer to a oil leaking issue but may not be 100% on the topic*
Could be the alternator "Depending on what right side ur talking about " if the 2 black hoses are not connected to there right area. eg. they may need to be swapped around with each other..
I remember my old diesel ute doing the samething, intead of the oil being pumped forward it was being pumped in reverse.
Just a question have you checked the side plate gaskets??
I have seen way more 202s with leaky side plate and pretty much none with a leaky oil pump .

Where and what is the side plate?Originally Posted by vkberlina
Ok the side plates on a 202 cover where your lifters & push rods are located. The retaining bolts always come loose and cause them to leak.
See the attached pictures one shows chome side plate covers the other shows whats behind (lifters & rods).
cheers

Is that your old 202 EFI? Is it two gaskets?
I rang up and asked Autobarn they said they were $6 each and I will get them tomorrow. Will I encounter any problems?

I'm not sure what you mean with leads?Originally Posted by Goon
It could be leaking from your distributor as well. There should be a thin round paper gasket on the bottom of your distributor where it goes into the engine above you oil pump
Got a lot more oil coming out than that mateOriginally Posted by Tree cutter
We've got oil all over and under the place on the right side.

The pic of the engine in the car was my first 202, the other pic is of my last 202 the chome side plates never made it in the car I used KC alloy ones. I had to send the first set back to KC as they were warped another 2 sets later I got a dead straight set.
You use 1 gasket per sideplate, they should come in a pair of 2 gaskets, but who know how autobarn sell them
good luck

It's a complete swine because it invloves removing the compressor and coil like you told me. :b:
I had a look at those plates today and looks like the middle area of the front plate is bending outwards, like someone has folded it in half then flat again.
I do hope my engine is alright, there's no oil around the area is clean..
If this cant be answered ill post some pictures if that helps.
It could also be the oil pressure sender unit which is located just above the oil filter. When these leak the oil just pours out
