Hey Gang
I'd just like to ask some questions on 2 car parts i have in mind and i'm not quite sure if they are any good anymore, i've go plans to put the beatie through a roadworthy test soon and i just wanna make sure thing are right..
Shocks - how soft should the shocks be? my rear ones are soft, you can push the back down with both hands they feel soft but they don't bounce up
fast. The front shocks seem okay..
Brakes - I've had a look at my front one's which are disc, the pads look okay. I havent had a good look at my drums yet on the rear, ie "pulling them apart"
The car doesn't move much as alot of kids play out on the road in my street![]()

But when it does move the car stops when u want it to but the still brakes squeak, maybe it's cause they arn't been used much lately?
I've also notice the brake pedal feels tight and touchy and doesn't take much of a push on the pedal to stop. *Cars Auto*

The rear shocks are generally softer than the front ones, a crude test is to bounce the car up and down on the suspect corner, then stop, if the car keeps on bouncing for a bit, then the shocks are probably rooted. If it goes anouther half stroke then stops its generally ok. Drum brakes generally are squeeky by nature, but lack of use wont help either.
Agree with tigervh on the bounce test for the shockers.
As for the brakes, lack of use doesn't affect my VC. It's been sitting in my garage for the last 4 years and only done about 1000km in that time. No squeaks at all from the brakes.
Your firm pedal indicates that your brake system is healthy. I suggest you pull the drums off, check out the rear shoes and have a look for scoring on the inside of the drum (assuming the squeal is coming from the rear).
Mark.
