yeah mate, check the wreckers for one, mine came with one standard i'm pretty sure
Yeah mate I got one for my car a few months ago because I didn't want it to get pinched either. The caps are the same from VB-VK. Autobarn sell nice metal ones for $27. It's a twist and push fit. Mine works well. You need CPC part number SL26ECOriginally Posted by Goon

that's the one!
yup, just go in and ask for a locking petrol cap or quote that part number, but also say its a petrol cap. some employees are slow
I think they came standard on the upper level cars, I know my old blue VH SL/X had one (not sure if original or not), I'm kicking myself that I didn't save it
All Commodores VB-VK had the locking petrol fuel caps Juzza, not just the upper spec ones![]()

Safe? Just go and buy one.
Yep, my VC L still has the original one on it. With a bit of work it can be pried off without the key so they're not the greatest, but it's better than having no security. Maybe new repro ones are a tighter fit.Originally Posted by SL/ENUT
Goon, if you're so worried about it why don't you install a second-hand cable-operated fuel flap from a VN-VS? Combine that with a lockable cap and your car won't ever be milked.
I have one exactly the same as the one in the pic Zoist posted which I kept from my old VB. Only problem is i can't use it because i can't fit it in. The LPG filler is just above the Petrol filler behind the petrol flap and doesn't allow any room to rotate the lockable cap.
Zoist, where's your LPG filler if the lockable cap fits?

Here's mine done on the farm with the MIG welder and a lot of tools. I had to cut the petrol filler pipe in half under the wheel arch and put a flexible petrol hose over it so I could move the petrol filler an inch or so down. Unlike the Ford's, these VK's the pipe is welded into the tank. The end result I am happy with it. I have to take the LPG cap off to take out the petrol cap but that isn't a big deal because I fill up with gas a lot more than petrol.![]()

Here's a pic of the flap before installing the fillers. We made the plate up from an offcut sheet of steel and shaped it to size. My cousin who is a farmer said that if a gas joint can do this, we can do it!![]()

Thanks Zoist. There just isn't enough clearance on mine to get the lockable cap in, with or without the LPG cap on. Thats as far apart as i can get them, can't go any higher or lower with either of them.
i have a lockable one but even when its locked you can just twist and pull it off:b:
Now that above, you would be surprised why that happens. Usually ppl don't push the fuel cap far enough in. On my SL/E i still have the original 1979 one for it, only need one key for the whole car!.

Yeah you need to push it in pretty hard, until it clicks on both sides.
