my drivers door has droped about 15mm is there any way of addjusting this?
I think my windscreen is leeking from the seal at the top is there any cheap way to fix this
Thanks,
sean
Are all the bolts in the door hinges tight?! From memory, there a 4 bolts on each hinge, plus the pin. Check to see if they are all done up tight.
As for the windscreen, cheapest (and dodgiest!) solution could be to run some silicone glass sealer along in between the seal and the glass at the top. This should stop it from coming in to the car, providing that it is leaking form the top.

yeah i will try the second thing.
but the door hinges are weled on
this is a VH wagon sorry for not say in the first place.
Hmmm welded on...Maybe a crack or two in the welds?! Have you tried holding the door open, and pulling it up to where it should be?! Look for any movement at all in the hinge area. This should give you some idea of where it has dropped from.

Ok judt done that. the hinges are welded fine. there is just movement in the pin. i was hoping there was a way of adjusting the door. thanks for quick replay.
Well, I'm not too sure what could be causing it, but I'm pretty sure there isn't really a way to 'adjust' the door as such.
The only cause I can think of is what happened to my old VH, which was over the years all the movement in the doors has caused the pin to rub and over time the hole for the pin got slightly larger. Not by much, but enough to need to lift the door a tiny bit when opening/closing it.
I just found another piece of metal the same length, but a wider diameter to fint the hole. That seemed to fix it. You wouldn't think that the pin could cause this, but believe me it can!!

sounds similar to the VC, with roll pins, try punching the pin out and replacing it, tho it sounds like the pin is gone all together.
You may need a door removal tools, autobarn has them..
The top pin is easy to remove with the tools, but the bottom pin can be a problem if your door is curved, i suggest placing the pin that will remove the pin holding the door as one, though this time not using the bar but using something else eg. cone shape drill bit to hammer out the bottom pin
ok thank u. i will try this when it isnt so wet out side
Yeah - the other day (stupid me) I reversed out of the garage with my front door slightly open...I look up towards the centre rear while reversing, and then hear a bit of a bang from the front right hand door area. Seems the door opened while I was reversing and hit the garage middle section. Now I'm having heaps of problems trying to close it...I've been tryin to pull it and what not...but I'm thinking its stuffed the whole door alignment...What do I do??
Did you damage the door at all? The impact of it hitting the garage may have caused the metal to tear where the bolts for the hinges screw in to the body, putting everything out of whack.

yeah probably right. is that easy to fix? lol
Gotta remember, VB-VK these are welded, no bolts. Actually come to think of it, all Commodores the hinges are welded on the body, not bolted.Originally Posted by 1vngal

Are you sure they're ALL welded on?! A VC my mate had, got a door off me after his got damaged, and I took his one off for him and that wasn't welded on. Just 8 bolts. 2 on either side of each hinge.
Hmmmm weird.

Sounds like Dodgy Bobs Fix Things did that. They are ment to be welded on, which sucks. Perhaps i should take a pic or few?

Probably was a dodgy job, but I didn't notice any weld or anything around the hinge. That's the only door I've really had a good look at in that respect, so I just assumed it was how they were manufactured!
It's like the stone trays. They're welded on. Had to replace one once. Grind the welds out, yank it off and tack weld the other one on. Bastard of a job. Holden had to make things difficult hey!
Nothing like a challenge though.
