Im not sure what it is.. but when i turned the ignition key my starter motor just made a click/clunk sound.. so i was told to tap it with a hammer.. i did that.. and then tried again.. and now when i turn the ignition, it just wines (the starter motor) and the engine doesnt turn over or anything.. could my motor be seased? i no silly question lol.. i no nothing bout motors.. any help would be greatly apreciated..
James..
It sounds like the solenoid in your starter motor is stuffed
keep banging it and it should come good long enuff to move it
yeah i just took it out about 15 mins ago lol.. im just going to get a new starter.. another Q is. when u manually turn the fan is it sposed to be realy hard to? its just been sitting for bout 8 months and im worried its seased...S.. cant afford a new motor atm and i need it runnin for work
P.. (living in the middle of noware dont help all that much)
should be hard to turn but u should be able to do it. What motor is it?
pretty sure its a red 202.... but the guy a baught it off said it was a 186... but yeah its a red motor..
Get under the barge and grab hold of the lower pulley real tight and turn it. I have done it with my 5L V8, so you can do it with a small six!
Technially you need to take the spark plugs out. Takes these out and its easy to turn by hand. The motor has no compression this way.
So if anyone can turn the motor by hand with the pullys easy, you have problems!

Heh never said it was easyIt is a bit of a barge to do and you need to use some muscle to do it.

Try putting a breaker bar & socket on the front of the crank....works a treat.
Thanks heaps guys i found out the starter motor isnt engageing or something like that lol.. ill just get a recond one.. then pray my engines not seased :P
thanks ^_^
You cant really use the breaker bar trick on the end of the crank on a 202. Unlike the V8 the 202 harmonic balencer is a friction fit.Originally Posted by broderikb
If you knock all the spark plugs out you may be able to rotate the crank shaft pully by hand.
before you buy a reco starter get a price on a new bosch one, last time i checked the price difference was marginal
cheers
