Seen a thread like this in the VN-VP forum and thought it would be cool to see how many kms all our early girls have done.
My VK has just clicked over 141,000. I'll get the exact kms when its daytime
Edit: It's done 141,653
Edit: Just clicked over 142,000 last night

My 308 has about 280 on the clock. Not sure if it has had any major previous block or head work done on it, but it would have had a head job done for gas.
It doesn't blow any smoke. The only thing that annoys me about the motor is the lifters are a bit noisy and makes the rockers rattle a bit. If that was fixed then the tick tick tick wouldn't be so annoying. It isn't worth me just replacing them by themselves .
My 304 has got 166,000 on it.
I thought my lifters were a bit noisy too, then i started using premium unleaded and it stopped. The old belt-driven fan with the thermostatic clutch annoys the crap out of me, it just roars. I'm not sure if the fan was made by Boeing, sounds a bit like a 747.
I don't know why premium would do anything. It's an oil issue not a fuel one.
There is a oil additive called lifter free by Nulon but it only works if the lifters are noisy within the first few minutes of driving.
my vks about to turn the big 200,000! not bad being 22 years old i say!
My SLE has 220,000 on it. Isn't it funny how the average Km's on a VB-VK is faaaaaaaaaar less than the average ks on a VN-VP, what is this saying?
180,000 out of the 253 so far...........
293000 in my VC. When I bought it in 1995 it had 266,000. And in the last 4 years it's only done a bit over 1000km; it sits lovingly cared for in the garage. It's definitely having a relaxing retirement.
147000+ on the old VB SL/E.
Cheers Damien"SL/ENUT" Smith, The SL/E Fanatic!
A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!
315000km on my runabout VK, most of the KMs have been highway kms
324,000km on the good VK which in the last nearly 2 years has done more KM on the back of a car trailer or tow truck than driven, im glad its nearly finished the rebuild.
Loads of VB-VK information, All you need to know about EFI 5L Conversions Ultimate EFI 5L Conversion resource "
Wanted B Cast Heads PM for details
151 on my vh's original motor. 2k on new motor.
My VK has done 355 and the rings are badly worn. at 300 i reco the head. now its time for new rings
My vc sl Commodore it has done 80,000 and still drives like brand new.
My mate had a '82? Corona with the Starfire Holden 4 cyl motor in it and it had done something like 450,000 K's and it didn't blow smoke. It seemed to just keep going and going. The body rust took over in the end but he still got $800 for it when he sold it years ago.Originally Posted by 3800VH

The Ol' Vk has made it to 260, 113. BUT... Trimatic has Karcked itself. Soon to have a 5 Speed instead, so a nice compramise. Engine had very little work needed for those KM's, Trusty bloody car! ..... Or trusty drivers. Who Knows.![]()
My Car is my OTHER child
My 82 VH clicked over 40000 on the thirteenth of April. I’ve had it a year and put 8000 on it.
No it’s not wound back, I meet the original owner. I’m the second owner
my calais has done 119, and the berlina has i think 196.
187,575 km on the clock.

400,000km +
It started life as a Witchery (ladies clothing store) company car, so had done over 100,00 by the time it was 2 years old.
When I purchased it (1990 @ 180K), it had a 202 motor from a HJ-Z fitted and the auto had just been rebuilt. The 202 lasted about 2 years and then I fitted the correct 3.3 motor (secondhand) it is still going, using about a litre of oil every 2500kms. The auto had a valve or something fail about 5 years after rebuild, it cost $300 to fix and it is still going.
in 16 years I have:
Rebuilt brakes: Master cyl recod, kitted the front calipers, replaced the rear wheel cyls new disc rotors machined drums.
2 indicator stalks
radiator & heater recored (heater twice)
Shockers
2 starter rebuilds and then a new starter.
1 new alternater
Centre bearing
water pumps 2-3 ?
carby rebuild
reco air cond compressor and several regasses
heater fan control switch
speedo x 2
mufflers x 4-5?
rack ends and boots
It has been a good car, most things I have fixed or fitted myself.
It is now about to get front strut inserts and probably top bearing plates.
Sorry for the long post![]()
Yeah those indicator stalks are pretty dodgy!!Originally Posted by 9C1pack
