I've just transplanted a VH 202 that I bought off ebay into my VC.
I finally got her running this afternoon and it doesn't look good.
White smoke from the rocker cover and somewhere down near the started motor (suspected loose exhause flange bolts.)
Noisy top end I think - seemed to quiet down a bit when I stuck some more oil in it.
But the thing thats really worrying me is that it's running off the red side of the temp gague after only 1-2mins of idleing.
I'm suspecting it's done a head gasket. Is there anything else this could be?
extractors might have a hole?
Seems to have smoothed out and fixed itself with a few starts. Just running on 5 cylinders at idle. Not sure why that is yet...
Pull out the spark plug leads one by one when the engine is running. When you don't hear any difference in the idle then that spark plug needs replacing or cleaning. Spray WD40 inside the leads holes and also on the distributor contacts on the cap.Originally Posted by Joes_meat
also if your still having probs with temp gauge take the temp sensor out of the head and check it. It may be clogged up

All the spark plugs are new, so I'll find the one not firing and re-gap it. Failing that I'll start looking at the dizzy. The points and rotor look pretty poor.
Thanks for the input guys.![]()
cool if you can find a electronic dizzy and coil use it i put one on my vb and is alot better
If your plugs and leads are ok it could be a burnt valve causing it to missfire at idle. You can check for burnt valves by hooking up a vaccum guage or doing a compression test.
