Gday ppl, this has prolly been asked before, but is it the weight of a spoiler on the boot that stops the glove box release doing its job? I remember i tried to fix this when i first bought the car by adjusting where the magnet release mechanism is on the inner of the boot lid. Nowhere i put it seemed to help. I just thought it was the weight of a spoiler on the boot that stopped it releasing, but then i thought its only a catch, the added weight shouldnt effect it. Do u guys no more? Thanks.

Most people blame the solenoid for the boot release problems but there are 2 causes.
1 - Voltage drop to the solenoid, fit a relay in and run quality wire to the solenoid.
2 - If the problem still is there, over time a notch wears in the internal part of the latch which causes it to grip closed, if you replace the boot latch assemble with a new one it will fix the problem. You also might like to remove it form the car, throughly clean it, lube it and refit it and see if that helps.
cheers
Scott

get someone to push down on the boot as you press the button :P
worked for both of my vks
may need new boot springs
Yeah, what is it with these dang things? Both my brothers and mine need some pressing on the boot lid to unlock the dang thing. Maybe I will try the relay thing but it might not work.Originally Posted by VK_308
